Soft Bond Strands® is a long-term, strand-by-strand hair-extension system created by Tiffany Twist.

Instead of attaching extension hair with glue, keratin fusion, adhesive tape, metal beads, clips, thread, or melted plastic, the system uses Tiffany’s proprietary flexible Soft Bond Strands® material.

​The small, individually placed bonds are designed to move naturally with the hair while creating a comfortable, discreet attachment.

​No. Although both methods use strand-by-strand placement, Soft Bond Strands® does not use keratin fusion, glue, hot glue, metal beads, adhesive tape, or melted plastic to attach the extension hair.

The Soft Bond Strands® material is melted separately and carefully applied according to the method taught inside the course. A heated fusion tool is not clamped onto the natural hair.

​Soft Bond Strands® was created by Tiffany Twist.

​Tiffany originally wanted a way to put long-term hair extensions into her own hair without depending on salon appointments. That personal need eventually became ManeMaxx, the original DIY system using a previous version named TemBond, and later evolved into today’s complete Soft Bond Strands® method, education, products, and community.

Soft Bond Strands® grew from Tiffany’s original ManeMaxx invention, but it is not simply a relaunch of the old product.

The system has been refined and expanded with better education, clearer application guidance, improved preparation and safety training, a complete hair-care package, a private community, and support resources that did not exist during the ManeMaxx years.

Soft Bond Strands® is intended for long-term, semi-permanent wear, but the extensions can be removed whenever desired.

Wear time varies according to application, hair type, care, maintenance, lifestyle, and natural hair growth. Some people wear an installation for several months before removing, adjusting, or reinstalling their extension hair.

Individual results will vary.

Soft Bond Strands® was designed with fine, fragile, slow-growing, processed, and difficult-to-extend hair in mind.

The bonds can be customized into small, discreet sections instead of relying on wide tape panels, bulky wefts, rigid glue points, or metal attachments.

Not every hair-extension method is appropriate for every person. Anyone experiencing active hair loss, scalp concerns, unexplained shedding, or a medical condition should consult a qualified healthcare professional before using hair extensions.

​The Founder Release is the official opening of the new Soft Bond Strands® DIY experience.

Instead of waiting until every physical kit is ready to ship before opening the doors, customers can join now, become Founding Members, begin their digital experience, prepare for installation, and reserve a complete kit for Founder Shipping Week in early September 2026.

​No. Extension hair is not included because color, length, texture, curl pattern, density, and personal preferences vary greatly.

Any extension hair can be used. You can use hair you have from an old set of clip-ins, tapes, wefts, any. Just be sure it is very clean and fee of any solutions or oils from removals. Note that loose hairs are used to apply, so if you will be cutting from your clip-ins, you will be removing and using that hair permanently.

​Inside Your Soft Bond Studio, you will find guidance to help you choose extension hair that works for your desired result and budget.

You may use compatible human extension hair in the color, length, and texture that best suits your needs.

Hair can be purchased in bulk, prepared from a weft, or sourced through other suitable options explained inside the course. Quality and construction vary, so follow the course guidance before purchasing.

​The Light Hair collection contains Soft Bond shades intended for blonde, light, and selected red root areas.

​The Dark Hair collection contains shades intended for brunette, dark, and black root areas.

The system was created for DIY use, and the course teaches how to work from home with mirrors, sectioning, preparation, and step-by-step guidance.

Individual coordination, mobility, eyesight, hair type, and comfort levels vary. Some members may choose to ask a trusted person for assistance with difficult-to-see areas.

Wear time varies based on application, hair type, placement, maintenance, products, lifestyle, natural growth, and individual care.

​Many strand-by-strand installations are worn for several months before removal or adjustment. Some experienced wearers may achieve longer wear, but no specific duration is guaranteed.

In many cases, yes.

​Because removal does not require oily chemical solvents, suitable extension hair may be prepared and reused for later installations. Reuse depends on the quality and condition of the hair and how it has been worn, removed, washed, stored, and maintained.

The course teaches the complete removal process.

Generally, the cured bond is carefully broken down by hand so the extension strand can slide away from the natural hair. Remaining shed hair and residue are then gently combed away according to the training.

​Do not attempt removal without reviewing the complete instructions.

Many members can wash, dry, evaluate, and reinstall without an extended waiting period because chemical or oily removal solvents are not required.

However, you should always examine the condition of your natural hair and scalp first. If you notice irritation, excessive shedding, breakage, soreness, or another concern, pause and consult an appropriate professional.

Allow the bonds to cure fully before washing. Follow the exact timing and washing instructions provided inside the current course, as product preparation, application, and environmental conditions can affect the recommended cure period.

Soft Bond Strands® is designed for active, everyday wear.

​Members have worn the extensions while exercising, swimming, traveling, boating, and participating in many normal activities. Proper installation, drying, detangling, product selection, and maintenance remain important.

Use extension-compatible products and avoid ingredients identified in the course as harmful to bond performance.

​Silicone buildup can interfere with the attachment and may contribute to premature shedding. The included Just Clean Hair™ system was created for lightweight, silicone-free cleansing and care. Using exclusively Just Clean Hair™ for the first 4-6 weeks is recommended before experimenting with other products. Always choose silicone-free and double check the ingredients list. 

Root touch-ups or carefully placed color services may be possible between the extension sections.

Make sure anyone working with your hair understands that you are wearing Soft Bond Strands®. Avoid saturating the bonds with chemicals, excessive pulling, tangling during washing, and high heat directly on the attachment area.

​Major color changes are generally easier between removal and reinstallation. Coloring extension hair is performed at your own risk and may produce unpredictable results.
